Products & sizes · MS Gong Ride Setup

Purpose. Make sure every item a buyer can order exists as a product in Shopify, because that is where orders are fulfilled and where the Variant IDs come from.

Where each product is created

Not everything is built by hand in Shopify. Every product ends up in Shopify, but they are created in different places.

Whatever creates it, every product must end up Active and on the Online Store sales channel, and each size has its own Variant ID that you will need for The Critical Link.

Building the jersey and socks in Shopify

Shopify admin, then Products, then Add product.
Jersey. Vendor MS Gong Ride, category Cycling Apparel & Accessories. Add a variant for every size (for example XS through 5XL). Add the product to the Hillbrick collection and give it the Brand_Hillbrick tag. Its inventory lives at the Hillbrick location.
Socks. Vendor MS Gong Ride, one "One size" variant, tracked inventory, stocked at the Office (warehouse) location.
Set each product's Status to Active and confirm it is on the Online Store sales channel.

Note

Finding a Variant ID. Open the product, click a size variant, and copy the long number after /variants/ in the URL. For example, in …/variants/47221186068636, the number 47221186068636 is the Variant ID.

Watch out for

Merch SKUs are shared across campaigns, so always map to this year's product, not last year's.
Create fresh products for the new year so the Variant IDs are new and clean.
