Event Setup/Tickets
Guest Manager setup
Purpose. Set up the event in Guest Manager so it issues tickets and emails them automatically. Guest Manager is the "Event Ticketing" app inside Shopify. When you create an event here, it creates the matching ticket product in Shopify for you.
You will need access to the Event Ticketing app (in Shopify under Apps), the ticket design, and the event details.
Steps
- In Shopify, open Apps, then Event Ticketing, then Events, then Create event.
- Choose the Event type. For the Gong Ride this is One time.
- Enter the Event name. This name becomes the ticket product name in Shopify, so use something like "MS Gong Ride Train Ticket 2027 - Fairy Meadow Station".
- Set the Location, which is the venue, for example Fairy Meadow Station. You can choose an existing location or add a new one.
- Under Tickets, add a ticket type with its Name, Price (in AUD, enter zero for free), and Inventory (how many to sell). Use Add ticket if you need more than one type.
- Optionally set an Event capacity, a total cap across all ticket types.
- Save. Guest Manager creates the ticket product in Shopify for you. The "Creating N products" note on the right confirms this.
- Design the ticket. From the app home, use Customize your tickets to set the branded PDF and Apple Wallet template.
- Activate the ticket product in Shopify. Open the product Guest Manager created, set its status to Active, and add it to the Online Store sales channel, just like any other product.
How delivery works
When an order with the ticket product reaches Shopify, Guest Manager automatically creates the attendee and emails the buyer the ticket PDF. That is the delivery. No one sends tickets by hand.
Watch out for
- Guest Manager creates the ticket product, so you do not build it by hand in Shopify. You do still need to activate it and add it to the Online Store channel.
- If the product is not Active or not on the Online Store channel, buyers cannot get it.
